With fantastic weather, an awesome crowd and volunteers with big hearts, the 2014 NSG Fun Day for Parents and Toddlers was a success! The event was hosted at Sunrise Park on August 8th, 2014 with over 60 participants attended. The afternoon was filled with food, balloon animals, Play-do creations, and laughter from an ethnic diverse parents and toddlers.
Co-organizer Frankie was a busy balloon-twisting man as he entertained kids with his balloon creations: flower, sword and various animals! Over to the table with a Play-do kitchen set, you would have found volunteers and parents assisted toddlers trying out their new recipes. Although not consumable, one could judge the success of the recipe just by the look of the dishes! In an attempt to cool down under the heat, some older kids even made a splash in the wading pool, but not without the watchful eyes of their parents. Event volunteers felt that they had applied their skills and made an impact to the community by connecting parents and toddlers in the fun day.
In all, we appreciate the Vancouver Foundation to fund us with Neighbourhood Small Grants to make possible this fun day where parents, infants and toddlers in the Collingwood neighbourhood engaged and walked away with smiley faces!
