We have completed our “Great Pairings” Program. We were able to have three pop up events in New Westminster. Our first “Great Pairings” was in the Queensborough Community Centre with Tabla Master and vocalist Cassius Khan and Classical Guitar Master John Oliver.
Our second “Great Pairings” was held at the River Market with Improvisers Daniel Chai (The Fictionals) and fourth year New Westminster Second School student and NWSS Improv Team member Riley Darrian.
The Last “Great Pairings” was held at the Royal City Centre with Drummer Jesse Cahill who works with top Artists and Amika Kushwaha, a Choreographer and instructor of Kathak one of India’s eight classical dance forms. She is one of few Artists in Canada who pairs her performances with live musical accompaniment. We received wonderful cooperation of all three venues who provided us with a stage and sound systems.
These three events culminated in the evening event at the Massey Theatre : Great Pairings : Eyes on the Future.
Because of the Small Neighborhood Grant we were able to invite the community of New Westminster to these three events and to experience artistic excellence. The three previews we offered gave everyone an opportunity to see great Artists at work in a community setting and a venue accessible to everyone.
