As an art therapist and artist, one of my core values is making creativity accessible in everyday life. I’ve led many community groups and one-on-one sessions over the years, and this little neighborhood library felt like a natural next step, a new way to spark inspiration and connection right here on the street.

But this isn’t your typical book-exchange library! Instead of books, I’m inviting neighbours to share art supplies and small handmade pieces. Whether it’s a handful of beads, a collage card, or a gently used paintbrush, this is a place for people to give and receive creative materials, no strings attached.

Originally, I had big DIY dreams to build the whole structure from scratch. But after some reflection, I decided to go with a pre-made kit to save on material waste and avoid the cost (and headaches!) of tool rentals. Ironically, the one cost I didn’t plan for? Installing the post! Between the auger rental and cement, the “simple” part ended up being the trickiest. Isn’t that always the way?

Now that it’s up, I’m so excited to see how folks interact with it. My hope is that it becomes a tiny hub of inspiration, an invitation for anyone walking by to make something, share something, or simply pause and feel a little more connected.

Here’s to more creativity, more community, and more art on every corner. 💛
