I started with buying 30 basil plants and 30 chive starters. I purchased dirt, fertilizer and plant pots for transplanting so that I could give healthy and strong plants for my project the herb plant giveaway.
I posted signage around town advertising the giveaway and reached out to our local garden club so they could let their members know about it too by word of mouth.
At the giveaway, I explained how to properly care for chives and basil plants, where to plant them, and how to keep them for the winter so that you have fresh herbs all year long. We had many members in our community attend the giveaway and I feel that this project was a success in that I completed what I set out to do. I also hand delivered the herb plants to some residents in the community who were unable to make the date and time work for them.
My favourite part was seeing young members in the community come out, interested in having their very own basil plants to take care of!
