Our community’s homeless population has expanded over the last little while and we felt it would be good to do a little something for those that need it most this holiday season. We ran our event simultaneously with one of the Salvation Army Food Truck nights at Brighouse Park. This enabled us to reach those most in need within out community. There were approximately 70 people in attendance, many of which struggle with being isolated from society due to mental health or substance abuse.
Those in attendance were gifted grocery items and donated clothing. We were able to handout canned, dry, and perishable goods. Some of the most popular items were toilet paper, pasta, canned meat, and juice.
We received support from donors including the Richmond Foodbank, St. Albans Anglican Church, Richmond Presbyterian Church, St. Josephs Church, AIDS Vancouver and Cobs Bread. All of which along side Neighbourhood Small Grants enabled us to give back this season.
