42 Interested neighbours turned out on a beautiful day in July to learn about home sprinkler installation. Ten members of the Oyster River Fire Department attended the event. The deputy fire chief led us through a review of the host home, and together we learned what helps make a home safer and more resilient in a wildfire. Two agile firefighters climbed on the roof to install a sprinkler set and taught us how to use them during a wildfire emergency.
The NSG funds, along with the firesmart grant, allowed us to purchase 7 sprinkler kits, which we were able to give away as door prizes. The winning families were thrilled to be able to add some extra protection to their homes.
Potluck snacks were shared to round out a lovely afternoon of learning, sharing, and connections.
