The inclusive sign-making event was a cozy, productive, safe, and relaxed event. Participants gathered together to connect and create gender-inclusive signage for washrooms in our community. Gender-inclusive signage is challenging to procure and creates a barrier for businesses looking to create more inclusive spaces in our community. Coastal Queer Alliance now has a small stock of signs for local businesses to purchase by donation. After learning about the importance of gender-inclusive spaces through Coastal Queer Alliance’s Shifting Frameworks workshop, businesses now have the option of purchasing or making gender-inclusive signs which drives an actionable step that businesses can take to provide more gender-inclusive spaces.
