I held the plant giveaway on July 4, in the parking lot of our local community hall. I estimated to give away between 30-50 Borage plants to the local community that they could plant in their yards and properties. Close to 35 borage plants were given away in person, on location at the giveaway. The rest, I hand delivered to members in our community who could not make the meet up and expressed interest in receiving free pollinator plants from this project.
What worked well:
A central location in our community that people are familiar with so they could easily find the giveaway.
Three different advertising points in our community were utilized to get the word out.
Sourcing starter plants from a family owned greenhouse ensured this project was supporting local and in turn giving back to the local community.
I am satisfied that my project accomplished what I set out to do. Pollinator plants were distributed among our region in the Kootenays.
