This was the second year running Kootenay Spooks and we received a lot of positive feedback from locals happy that the initiative was returning again this year.
We noticed a substantial difference in the local financial climate this year with petrol cost involved in collecting costumes and processing them along with a greater need from family’s struggling with basic costs, making new costume purchases for the season almost impossible.
With the support of the Neighbourhood small grant we were able to get new clothing bins into more local community library’s and store the incoming costumes making the processing and handling much more manageable.
Because of this financial support and the enthusiasm of the local community we were able to collect and refurbish and return more costumes than ever back to family’s looking to celebrate the Halloween season at social and school events along with the traditional trick or treating on the day of Halloween.
