The Let’s Mask Up @Hawthorn! project was successfully delivered maintaining COVID-19 safety protocols to 50 plus Hawthorn neighbourhood residents who visited our Little Mask Studio set-up with a Vision Board comprising of sample fabric patterns for reference and a couple of head mannequins to showcase sample masks that were created. The packaging was done in a very professional manner to ensure safety protocols. Each mask was wrapped in paper tissue, inserted in a brown paper pillow envelope with a string and a wheat stem for presentation. An insert with care instructions and fabric material details provided and communicated during distribution.
The first 10 masks were distributed to the Musqueam people and the last set of 12 variety pack masks for Kids, Adults and Seniors were handed out as part of the UNA Halloween Trick or Treat initiative. A UNA newsletter announcement was made a couple of times to acknowledge the details about the project.
A table was set-up at UNA Old Barn Community Centre & Hawthorn Community Garden for distribution.
Community impact made:
*Promote wearing a mask in public places (125 masks distributed)
*Get to know our neighbours
*Social interaction while maintaining physical distance
