Northside qathet is situated at the north end the sunshine coast, we are a rural community with a population of about 2500 in the area with the village of Lund as our hub. There are many creative and wonderful people hiding in the woods around here. It is important to actively create sense of community around here as isolation has it pros and cons.
Lund Daze Community Music and arts festival has had many incarnations of the years but has developed into summer gathering where we celebrate local creative talent and foster a sense of togetherness in community.
The Neighbourhood Small grant was used to support the community Art stations at Lund Daze. The past few years these interactive art stations have become a very popular and beautiful part of our little festival.
We had three interactive art station facilitated by local artist that added joy and collective creativity to our beautiful community event.
There was a rock and driftwood painting table facilitated by Sandra Lopez a local sculptor and multi media artist. The creations there are now on display in various public gardens around the area. Station two was a trading card table. where people create mini art pieces on trading cards and are then encouraged to trade with each other and the facilitator Harvey Chometsky, a local professional artist that make very beautiful work and is such a wonderful facilitator.
The third was a collective textiles project, we made a giant embroidery hoop and folks we invited to add either appliqué or embroidery to create a collective piece that will be on display at the community centre this winter.
Thank you for your support, it added a lot to the festival and gave our community an opportunity to connect creatively.
