This year we expanded our invites to add several more streets around us. The more the merrier! Our neighbourhood is changing from single-family large lots to multi-family developments. We hosted a hot dog and hot chocolate night with a Halloween theme, music videos, and storytelling.
Our youngest community member attending was 3 months old; our oldest was 79. We had a new family of only two months all the way up to 35-plus years. Everyone who attended was thrilled to be there, some even added a potluck offering.
Plans have been made to expand next year, and some want to host their own party. Sending out personal notes to all the neighbours worked amazing, everyone except one household showed up. We posted an event on Facebook and it was great to meet the neighbours. Since then we all smile and stop and chat. And…we know who everyone is now.
The stories of changes in the neighbourhood were interesting, and finding out where people came from and why they landed in the valley was fascinating.
Cannot wait til next year!
