My project aimed to bring mathematics to the community and engage families in learning mathematics through play. Parents and children had a great time interacting with each other, prompted by the invitations they found in every math station. It was great to see the families visiting the different math stations and having conversations about math ideas. One parent noted: “I found the workshop very interesting and fun. My children, 7 and 8 years old, enjoyed each one of the activities. The activities were very well designed according to different ages. As a parent, I had the opportunity to reflect on the importance and benefits of learning mathematics through games and the use of manipulatives. It was a wonderful and productive activity that we enjoyed as a family.” As a project leader, I realized that families value non-school settings as opportunities for their children to keep learning.
