After many hours of planning, our high school student leadership event went excellent!
Having youth delegations from over half of Richmond’s High Schools, (a very big feat), our simulation of the United Nations Human Rights Council was both an eye-opening and informative session. Participants were able to hone their public speaking/debate skills as well as meet like-minded peers.
Bonding within their mutual voting ‘blocs’ and a lunch social, event participants represented different UN member states in a forum discussing LGBT Rights. A properly formatted resolution, written by participants was also successfully debated and passed!
Thank you NSG, this project has inspired us to do something similar on a smaller scale a few times in the new year! Through this project, we’ve created lasting friendships and hope to bring Model UN to even more high school students in the future.
