We formed a Neighbourhood Pod to plan for and to support each other during an emergency (eg. earthquake, wildfires). We held our first meeting of 10 families sharing information, resources and ideas. We created contact lists, shared skill sets and chose 2 “leaders” to co-ordinate and hold information. It was decided to use our grant money to purchase water purification systems. Within our area we have access to one underground spring and one creek. Two gravity-fed systems were purchased and located in bins near each of these water sources. The system chosen filters out most viruses, bacteria, parasites and microplastics.
