The Neighbourhood Small Grants Project was introduced in the Little Mountain and Mount Pleasant neighbourhoods in 2005, and spread throughout our community rapidly and successfully. In 2012 we granted 135 projects, supported new leaders and NSGP veterans, introduced and promoted the Artist Enhancement and Greenest City components, witnessed innovative projects flourish and annual events grow, all making our province, city and neighbourhood a wonderful place to live.
This is a project where a 17 year-old girl gets her high school classmates excited and involved in a communal garden project planted for the species of local birds which live in it. This is a project where a group of senior ladies plan and facilitate a five-part intergenerational table tennis series, with incredible success. This is a project where a group of young
neighbours gather weekly around a compost waste system, bringing their very new community together and engaged!

Neighbourhood Small Grants

We believe the best people to effect change in a community are the ones within it. And when we can make money less of an issue in doing so, it allows so many more kinds of ideas to shine.
