The Brentwood Town Centre Living / Dying Project has three components. The first, a Death Café, was held on June 24, 2023, from 1-2:30 pm, in the Grand Lobby of the Amazing Brentwood.
The event was promoted on social media (Facebook, NextDoor, Eventbrite, Instagram) and at networking events (Death Doula Network of BC, Willow End-of-Life) and through traditional media outlets (Burnaby Now, CKNW 980).
Twelve enthusiastic participants attended this free gathering to discuss grief, loss, mortality, dying and death.
What I learned making this event happen will be applied to the next component of the Living / Dying project (a walking tour of Pacific Heritage Cemetery) and will inform future Death Cafés held in this neighbourhood.
