The Grand Boulevard Ridgeway Residents Association offered a free workshop at the City of North Vancouver’s Urban Farm, named Loutet Farm, on Saturday, May 20, 11:00 – 3:00 pm.
We introduced participants to a few aspects of growing or preserving foods: in their back yard, in a raised garden, or in their kitchen — sprouting seeds or canning fruits or vegetables. They learned about pollinator bees and bee boxes. Our ‘Chicken Lady’ talked about keeping backyard chickens. We provided a healthy lunch, including fresh produce from Loutet Farm and our neighbourhood store, Sprout Organic Market, and homemade kombucha and milk kefir. After lunch, they learned about plans on the farm and helped to prepare beds for planting.

Neighbourhood Small Grants

We believe the best people to effect change in a community are the ones within it. And when we can make money less of an issue in doing so, it allows so many more kinds of ideas to shine.
