As a community event, our first Pop-Up Art Exhibition was truly a success fulfilling our mission to connect community with the arts & to make the West End more attractive and appealing by showcasing paintings & sculptures. Over 400 residents and visitors saw the artwork on display by 21 local artists during our opening nite and two day event. Some of the comments from those who saw the exhibition were: “Thanks for hosting such an exciting event in the West End. What a lovely way to connect the public with the artists and their works.”; “What a wonderful contribution to the West End.”
Over the weekend, residents and visitors dropped in to meet and talk with some of the artists whose artworks were displayed. Coffee and baked goods were generously donated by Starbucks which gave our gallery a welcoming sense of warmth & hospitality.
We were fortunate to have Jacqui McMullen, the General Manager of Times Square Suites Hotel offer us their empty retail space. As Jacqui said, “There was no hesitation in my mind that a Pop Up Gallery would be a great use of our vacant space at Times Square…that artists in our neighbourhood will receive some focus on their work. There were sales made, conversations had and some new connections made…I can’t wait for the next Pop Up Gallery!”
Our opening night reception was a fabulous experience with crowds to overflow lining up to see our very first Pop-up Art Exhibition with entertainment provided by singing duo SUEDE DOGS . As one attendee commented: “Great energy opening night as though something exciting and wonderful is happening here.”; “Gosh, this is amazing!”
