This workshop aimed to provide residents with a fun and creative activity to make their own personalized ornaments for the holiday season.
Each participant received a kit with all the necessary materials to create a unique ornament. The session was a huge success! We had 18 participants who were all very engaged and enthusiastic about creating their ornaments. It was wonderful to see such a diverse group of people come together and enjoy a shared activity.
One of the most surprising things was the positive response from participants of all ages. This shows that there is a strong desire for community-building activities within our building. My favorite moment was seeing the look of pride on everyone’s faces as they held up their finished ornaments. It was clear that they had enjoyed the process and were proud of their creations.
I am grateful for the opportunity to have hosted this workshop. It was a great way to bring our community together and spread some holiday cheer. I hope to organize more events like this in the future. Notably, for Hispanic women who are often far from their home countries, especially during festive seasons like Christmas, such activities provided a valuable opportunity to express themselves, build relationships, and nurture their emotional health. These gatherings can also serve as a bridge to sharing cultural heritage.
I conceived and executed this project from start to finish. My mission in life is to empower others, and creating this space was a perfect opportunity to do so. I handled all aspects of the project, from budgeting and research to learning new skills. I’ve found that being prepared for the unexpected and having a strong plan are essential for success.
