This community workshop brought together a group of friends to create pipe cleaner pets. Although all participants were adults, the process of crafting seemed to reconnect everyone with a sense of childlike focus and joy. Notably, a large portion of the participants were single mothers, making the gathering even more meaningful.
As we worked with our hands, we also shared stories and experiences of parenting, ranging from everyday challenges to emotional resilience, and from children’s growth to our own journeys as caregivers. These conversations created a space filled with honesty, understanding, and warmth. With simple materials, each participant crafted a small, fluffy animal. More than just a handmade piece, it became a heartfelt gift to bring home to their children, carrying love and intention.
The atmosphere throughout the workshop was relaxed and joyful, filled with laughter and genuine connection. It was not only a creative activity, but also a moment of companionship, sharing, and mutual support within the community, a reminder that even small gatherings can offer meaningful strength and connection.
