“Plogging” is a term that combines the words “jogging” and “picking up litter.” It refers to an activity where people go for a jog or walk and pick up litter along the way. We are the runners all from the city of Burnaby and run together every Saturday and Sunday morning at Central Park.
We organized three plogging events so far: Canada Day Plogging, Burnaby Lake Run Plogging (August 13) and Thanksgiving Plogging. We had 35 persons participate in the Canada Day Plogging.
By promoting Plogging as a regular activity, the project could help raise awareness about the importance of keeping public spaces clean and encouraging healthy physical activity. Additionally, it could help foster a sense of community and civic engagement among residents who are passionate about preserving and enhancing the natural beauty of Central Park.
