Our 10 Year Anniversary event for the Port Moody Police Department Community Garden was a huge success! After ten years of gardening, growing food, creating food security, building community, events, work projects and fun, the Grow Local Society really wanted to celebrate this milestone.
We had a gathering of about 70 people to mark the occasion, including city councillors, our Member of Parliament, members of the Port Moody Police Department, City of Port Moody workers, community groups like Grow Local Society, SHARE foodbank, the Port Moody Station Museum, the Port Moody Foundation, local business owners and artists and of course our gardeners!
We had a BBQ, kids’ games, giant bubbles, a raffle with donations from local businesses, live music, a video of our garden over the years, garden walks and a few speeches.
Thank you to the Neighbourhood Small Grants for helping us put on this event. The grant helped us have food and propane for our BBQ, a beautiful locally crafted cake, cutlery and plates, and a wonderful musician for our event! Here’s to another 10 years!
