This is our 3rd year of receiving a grant to create a pumpkin patch for the community. I wanted to create a magical farm setting where kids could have an adventure while harvesting a pumpkin. A safe environment to explore and learn in a farm setting with chickens, sheep, goats and a donkey.
The pumpkin patch welcomed 240 people. Offering pumpkins, farm animal visits and several opportunities for photography. There was a guess the weight pumpkin with a prize and stickers. The pumpkin shack had farming knowledge posters and a place to sit while kids played and interacted with the pumpkin patch.
I feel that a family project like this, and so many other NSG projects, are what the world needs now. Thank you to the Neighbourhood Small Grants and the Phoenix Foundation for making this project possible.
