Reuniting Black Cultures

Project Overview: The NSG project, funded by the Small Neighbourhood Grant (NSG), aimed to reunite and celebrate Black cultures within the South Surrey community. The project successfully brought together individuals to learn about and appreciate the rich heritage of Black cultures.

Planning and Execution: The planning phase involved several key steps:

1. Identifying Objectives: We aimed to educate the community about Black cultures, foster unity, and celebrate diversity.
2. Budget Allocation: With $750 in funding, we allocated resources to venue rental, materials, refreshments, and miscellaneous costs.
3. Event Coordination: We secured a venue, invited speakers and performers, and organized workshops and panels.

Challenges and Solutions: During the project, we encountered a few challenges:

1. Venue Availability: Finding an affordable and suitable venue was initially difficult. We solved this by negotiating with local community centers for a discounted rate.
2. Participant Engagement: Ensuring active participation required creative approaches. We incorporated interactive elements like Q&A sessions and hands-on activities to keep attendees engaged.
3. Resource Management: Managing the budget effectively was crucial. We prioritized essential expenses and sought donations for additional materials.

Involvement and Collaboration: The project involved various stakeholders:
