Model United Nations is a dynamic extra-curricular activity that involves participants to simulate the UN. Those involved will adopt the personas of foreign countries/policies and debate on international issues from those perspectives. The purpose of Model UN is to promote inter-global understanding and politically-themed education.
Inviting politically involved High School students from across Richmond, this event will act as a simulation of the United Nations Human Rights Council. With the topic set as LGBT Rights, we’re preparing for an intensive debate and a deepening of our understanding of the extensive issues the LGBT community faces abroad.
Additionally, we hope to establish a welcoming, educational opportunity for those just starting Model UN. We will be covering procedure in depth and hope to teach necessary debate skills to beginners that will prepare them for more extensive public speaking opportunities later this school year.
