Our event intended to bring together people growing food in Richmond. Our purpose was to connect people, share ideas for growing and also highlight the amazing diversity of growing spaces in Richmond.
Artist Rhonda Weppler photographed gardeners in Richmond in their food gardens. Michelle Li documented their stories and their tips for growing food in Richmond.
We wrapped up the project with a week-long photo gallery and slide show for participants and Richmond residents at Branscombe House. The opening day, we hosted a BBQ & potluck for participants so they could meet other food growers and discuss their successes and their questions. They shared delicious food from their gardens. We were joined by long-time Richmond farmer Harold Steves.
A few months later, we hosted a follow up for participants to meet again and participate in a food-related art project.
Many friendships were formed, tips were shared and a lasting legacy of these photos can be found online athttps://www.flickr.com/photos/rwtm/sets/72157670376389445.
