On August 17th, we invited all of Aldergrove to our back yard for a three hour event that included live local musicians, artists, and makers. Mark Hildebrand put on a musical show that involved amazing talent from the lower mainland. Gernres included country, folk, classic rock, and singer/songwriter. Artist and Maker booths were set up to show and sell unique hand-made items. There was a food tent serving smokies, salads and watermelon, and a bar with lots of choices. A children’s area offered activities to keep them busy. For parking, we approached a neighbour church. They provided the lot, and we provided safety cones and a crossing guard. We brought in a portable washroom, and had first aid staff on standby. The weather cooperated, giving us a sunny afternoon. People danced and clapped and sang along; kids drew with chalk and blew bubbles, and everyone celebrated being under the same sun.
