I have a small urban garden that my family enjoys and allows us to grow food and flowers. I started collecting seeds from my garden and found some seed libraries in other towns that I enjoyed visiting. I also enjoyed participating in some seed swaps and found that there were so many seeds out there to share. Too many for me to use in just my garden. I wanted to bring that to our community when I couldn’t find something similar closer to home.
The NSG and the Campbell River Community Foundation allowed me to purchase the little library and all the equipment to install it, as well as some bulk seed to get me started. The goal is that people will grow out their seeds and bring some back to share with the library to keep it stocked.
It’s already seen lots of foot traffic and the support from the community has been wonderful. Everyone is very excited to have something like this in our neighbourhood. Thank you!
