I sent out invitations for 2 date choices where I would demonstrate how I make my soaps. I asked if each participant would be comfortable filling out an index card with their name and what activities they have joined to meet new friends and to help to connect with their community. Also they would receive a light lunch and a free soap for participating.
The first group of 20 people was a huge success. Many shared stories of their lives and were eager to attend future get togethers here at the farm. The common thread of community involvement were the local seniors center ,community pool and red hat society.Knitting groups, walking groups ,book club and many others were mentioned. I have kept the index cards with their information.
The second group was smaller with 11 attending and was equally and enthusiastically enjoyed. Once again shared lunch and talking about their experience was enjoyed.
I used the 1 burner electric burner ( purchased) and a double boiler I owned. I purchased the soap bars and cut them into suitable size to melt. After melting the soap and adding color and fragrance I poured the melted product into a variety of molds I had purchased. Letting them cool a bit I then added a suprise that would be found when using the soap.
For example heart crystal in heart mold, mini beer mug, mini horse in horse mold and mini bee in bee mold.
Everyone asked if they could attend future classes and demonstrations I might do. Several said they were motivated to join an activity in our community center as they realized how rewarding it was for the others and the friendships created.
I am continuing to make soap and give as gifts whenever I can.
I am not tech savvy so I don’t think I have uploaded photos properly. I will send via a different email.I will also send copy’s of my receipts once I find them.
thankyou Wendy
