Our Rock Painting Project has been more than just a creative outlet, it has become a vibrant way for our community to come together, celebrate local talent, and strengthen connections. By inviting people of all ages to paint and hide rocks around town, we’ve encouraged participation, creativity, and simple acts of kindness that ripple through the community.
This project is a perfect example of Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) in action. Rather than focusing on problems or deficits, we tapped into the strengths, talents, and passions of our community members. Local artists, youth, families, and seniors contributed their skills, ideas, and enthusiasm, creating something beautiful that belongs to everyone.
The project also fostered connections and relationships. People met new neighbours, shared stories, and collaborated on designs, creating a sense of shared purpose and pride in our town. Each painted rock serves as a small reminder of the collective talent and kindness that exists in our community, turning everyday spaces into opportunities for joy and connection.
Through initiatives like this, we are not just painting rocks, we are building a stronger, more connected, and resilient community, one smile at a time.
