SPiEL is a quarterly reading event. Our goal is to give new and established readers a chance to share their work in a supportive and encouraging writer community. To date, we have hosted five events and have welcomed over 75 readers to present on our stage. Writers of all genres can submit up to 750 words of their work.
On August 22, with thanks in part to a grant from West Vancouver Community Foundation, we hosted our first North Shore edition to a crowd of 55 people of all ages. The theme of the night was “Change of Heart” and 13 readers presented their stories, tall tales and poems in five-minute segments. We laughed! We cried! We drank beer generously donated by East Van Brewing!
