Stories of East Van is a free one-hour walking tour that focuses on the Kensington-Cedar Cottage neighbourhood north of Kingsway. The goal of this tour is to highlight the diversity of history, culture, and interesting stories that abound in the very places we live and play but often forget to appreciate: our own neighbourhoods.
Come and join the walking tour for a glimpse of the historic transformation of Trout Lake; to learn about the Living Lab on Victoria Drive; and to find out more about the legacy of activism surrounding the Grandview Cut. Additional stops will highlight the many examples of public art in the neighbourhood and solve some of the well-known curiosities of the area (like why you can’t walk a block without seeing at least 5 Vancouver Specials).
The tour will be offered at two time slots:
1. First Tour: 9AM to 10AM
Meeting Point: In front of Cedar Cottage Neighbourhood House
2. Second Tour: 10:30 AM to 11:30AM
Meeting Point: Southeast corner of East Broadway & Victoria Drive (near the stone bench), approximately one block from the Broadway/Commercial Drive Skytrain Station
As each tour has limited spaces available, please sign up at storiesofeastvan.eventbrite.ca
