We are so pleased to have hosted the first of hopefully many Storycrafting workshops. With the Neighbourhood Small Grants funding, we welcomed a group of parents, early childhood educators, teachers and more. All came with a love of children and a desire to share stories with kids in a new way.
Our evening began with introductions and delicious desserts, following a talk by facilitators (Andrea Fruhling and Sarah Coull) about the benefits of sensory storytelling and ways to use a particularly unique and creative storytelling method across various age groups, cultures, and settings.
Workshop participants brought their favourite books to share and worked for the remainder of the evening imagining and building the stories they had brought in new ways. They learned to use scroll saws and consulted with each other and the facilitators to create new, beautiful stories to share with the children in their lives.
Thank you to Neighbourhood Small Grants for helping us as a community widen the imaginations of the children these stories will be shared with.
