I hosted a series of Chinese watercolor workshops on July 4, 5, 6, and 7 in Mission, BC, at a preschool. The participants included young children, seniors, and young adults, with most attending as families. The workshops served 30 families and 65 people over four days.
Everyone appreciated the opportunity to experience Chinese culture through arts. It was not just about learning a skill, but also about cultural exploration. Participants had a real touch on traditional rice paper, smelled the ink, heard the stories behind the art, and even tasted some delicious treats. Some families came with three generations, including grandparents, parents, and children, which allowed them to enjoy quality time together. It was heartwarming to see participants connecting with their neighbors and sharing common memories.
It was an honor for me to host these events and help share my community’s culture. Overall, the events were very successful, and I am grateful for the positive response from all who attended, and the support from NSG program.
