July 28 happened to be a rainy day. It was also the day of our block party. It was fun to see 4 different sets of families carrying their 10×10 tents down the street so we could have 1 big tent to sit under.
We had the party at one of our new neighbours front yard. This is where we have had the block party in the past so I was happy they agreed to allow the tradition to continue.
There were 3 sets of new neighbours on our tiny little block so it was great to give them a nice welcome and a chance to meet everyone. We all knew everyone’s pet names, so it was nice to put a name to the actual homeowner and not just the dogs and cats.
Additionally, we set up a Facebook Messenger Group and we got to use it just the other day when the fire department with fire trucks showed up outside one of the houses. We were able to find out that it was just “burnt toast” and nothing more serious.
These grants help build community, to become a part of something bigger than ourselves.
Thank you!
