The Wall Street Community Garden used the Neighbourhood Small Grant this year to host its first annual Wall Street Community Garden Spring Party. The theme for this year’s party was “Cinco de Mayo,” even though it was held on May 6, 2016. Garden members pooled skills and resources together to host a fun event filled with fancy all-ages drinks, a buffet style taco bar, lawn games, Mexican music and a piñata!
All members of the community were invited to the party and it brought everyone together. Gardeners gave garden tours and provided gardening tips/education to other community members, including a composting workshop. The event increased awareness of our the Wall Street Community Garden, and even more people expressed interest in wanting to join.
This party wouldn’t have happened without the help of Neighbourhood Small Grants and we look forward to hosting an even better party next year!
