Our second annual Welcome Back BBQ was a great success! The wonderful weather allowed us to host the event outside and take advantage of the playground and vast amount of outdoor space. The friendly and casual environment allowed all members of our community to catch up after a long Summer holiday and to meet new neighbors that have recently joined us.
We greatly appreciate NSG and Richmond Cares Richmond Gives’ grant to help us with purchasing burgers from M&M meat shop in Richmond. We were able to provide all participants with complimentary burgers, chips, and lemonade.
Parent and McMath High school student volunteers made various stations possible. Children enjoyed tattoos, face painting, jelly bean guess, crafts, and banner stations. Neighborhood friends including Blaze, Richmond Fire Department’s mascot dog, Elmo, and Tweety were among the crowd bringing smiles to adults and kids alike. We were also very lucky to have the Richmond Fire Department join us to share fire safety tips through their kid friendly brochures and toys.
This annual Welcome Back BBQ was a great way for our community to come together to connect and have fun! We look forward to the next one to come in 2017.
