Seven interested neighbours turned out on a beautiful day in July to learn about firesmart strategies and home sprinkler installation. The Pilot Mountain Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief and the Regional District of Fraser Fort George Emergency Preparedness Manager attended the event. The Emergency Preparedness manager led us through a review of the host home, and together we learned what helps make a home safer and more resilient in a wildfire. Wildfire home protection sprinklers were set up and demonstrated to help the community further protect itself from the threat of wildfire.
The NSG funds, along with the firesmart grant, allowed us to purchase 5 sprinkler kits, which we were able to give away as door prizes. The winning families were thrilled to be able to add some extra protection to their homes.
A barbeque lunch was provided to round out a lovely afternoon of learning, sharing, and connections.
