I recently completed the Master Recycler Program conducted by Society Promoting Environmental Conservation, in Vancouver. As a certified Master Recycler, I felt I had learnt so much during through the course. And hence I decided to share my knowledge with my neighbours through this workshop.
In this workshop I talked about how to reduce food wastage, how to do packaging free grocery shopping, proper segregation of kitchen waste, recycling, composting etc. I also talked about how to do menu planning to suit one’s needs, prepping the ingredients so that one can eat healthy meals and snacks throughout the week. We all learnt to make a Mason Jar Salad and each participant took home what they made.
We discussed about making eco-friendly choices. We will together move towards following a zero waste lifestyle. We will support each other in this journey by sharing information with each other.
The workshop acted as a forum to create general awareness about problems and pollution affecting our environment. We did not just talk about problems, but also discussed solutions that we can provide collectively as neighbours.
By learning and doing something together, the participants of the workshop interacted with each other and discussed about important issues. As a community we will be working towards a common goal of reducing plastics/packaging. We will support each other by sharing knowledge and information. This might help people make better life style choices.
