I am writing to share details about our recent community initiative held on June 8th at 6368 No. 3, where 21 participants engaged in calligraphy practice using waste newspapers.

Engaging in the practice of painting and calligraphy necessitates a substantial amount of paper due to the extensive exercises involved. Recognizing the environmental impact of such paper consumption, our initiative proposed a sustainable solution. By opting for recycled paper or repurposing discarded newspapers for these creative endeavors, we aimed to make a meaningful contribution to resource conservation.

Using waste newspapers for calligraphy practice offers several benefits. Firstly, it supports environmental sustainability by reducing paper waste and minimizing the demand for new paper production. Secondly, recycled newspapers often provide a suitable texture and absorbency for ink, making them ideal for calligraphy strokes and artistic expression. Additionally, repurposing newspapers fosters creativity and innovation, encouraging participants to explore alternative materials for future artistic endeavours.

This approach not only demonstrates our commitment to environmental responsibility but also promotes community engagement and education on sustainable practices. As neighbours join together in embracing this eco-friendly initiative, a sense of shared responsibility and pride in contributing to environmental conservation emerges within our community.

We believe that through collaborative efforts in environmentally conscious activities like utilizing recycled materials for calligraphy practice, our community can collectively make a positive impact both locally and globally. This initiative not only enhances environmental awareness but also strengthens bonds among community members, fostering a spirit of unity and shared purpose.

After practicing calligraphy with waste newspapers, we gathered together to analyze and critique the artworks, discussing techniques such as how to depict grapes in paintings.
