I first got into volleyball because it quickly became more than just a sport for me—it turned into something I genuinely loved and looked forward to every day. What started as casual games with friends after school slowly grew into a real passion. I always wanted more gym time, more chances to play, and more opportunities to get better. Whenever I stepped onto the court, I felt the energy, the teamwork, and the excitement that came with every rally. Over time, I realized that volleyball wasn’t just something I enjoyed doing; it was something that motivated me and pushed me to become more involved. That’s why, when I learned about this grant, it felt like the perfect opportunity to take something I cared about and turn it into something bigger. Instead of just playing whenever the gym happened to be free, I wanted to create consistent time and space not only for myself, but also for my friends and the communities around us. I knew there were other people who loved the game just as much as I did—or people who wanted to start playing but didn’t have the chance. So my friend and I decided to get to work. We started planning, organizing, and figuring out how we could make this happen. Our goal wasn’t just to play volleyball; it was to build a place where everyone could show up, feel included, learn new skills, and have fun. The grant opened a door for us to take a simple idea, just wanting more time to play, and turn it into something that could actually make a difference. By creating this space, we hope to connect players, bring people together, and share the sport that has meant so much to us. This project is more than a program; it’s a way to give back, inspire others, and grow a community centred around the game we love.
