The BookClub was started to connect students with a list of impactful novels and a community of avid readers over the summer of 2021. It was promoted over social media (such as Instagram and LinkedIn) to reach out to as many people as possible. The group of students and alumni met to discuss our thoughts and reflections after reading books such as, "So You Want To Talk About Race?" by Iljeoma Oluo and "The Tipping Point" by Malcolm Gladwell. Although we faced the challenges of scheduling and planning Zoom meetings, I believe we made a strong impact in our community by forming new friendships, sharing perspectives, and creating/hosting a digital space for dialogue. We learned many lessons from this experience and are immensely grateful to the Inspiring Community Grants team for their support!
