The “Letter With You” project aims to help others feel connected, valued, and heard; it is an ongoing project sending personalized cards to anyone needing a pick-me-up or support through a difficult moment.
At the project’s inception in 2019, we hand-delivered each mail to students on the UBC campus, promoting through posters around student buildings, study spaces, and residence areas. We do our best with each mail to show our care for each person requesting a letter from us, hoping we can bring them a smile on a difficult day.
Since then, we’ve been fortunate to have received the help of the Vancouver Foundation to expand our project to the broader Vancouver community. Just in the past year of 2022, we sent over 80 messages of hope, encouragement, and support to individuals in the community and beyond.
The feedback remains overwhelmingly positive, and we appreciate all the support we have received and the opportunity to run this project. We continue to work hard on our letters, which now contain cute motivational stickers and gift cards to help provide positivity and a gift to treat themselves at a local store/café.
We believe everyone deserves respect, love, support, safety, and to feel worthy. We hope no one feels like they have to fight their battles alone. It is a huge dream we want to attain, but we are determined to make a difference by taking small steps towards it, one letter at a time.
We hope to continue expanding the project and writing to anyone who needs the reminder that they’re not alone, strong, and to tell them, “the world is BETTER WITH YOU.”
