We printed posters and door knocked on Robson and Barnard Drive. That was a scary / embarrassing experience as all door knocking is, but we got to speak to some neighbours and answer any questions they had about how a cookie exchange worked. Through these interactions we learned that many people don’t bake and don’t know what a cookie exchange is! We also posted on the Facebook Terra Nova page. 2 neighbours expressed their interest in participating and we provided them with a block of butter to get their cookie exchange started. We decided to host the cookie exchange in our home as our intent was to have a place-based interaction in our neighbourhood rather than having it at the community centre. This also saved on costs. It was fun to host the cookie exchange and see what cookies people brought. The participants and their families chatted about the neighborhood, the holidays, and generally got to know one another.
