I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who helped make this year’s Halloween night such an incredible success. Whether you volunteered, participated, or both, none of this would have been possible without your support! Special thanks to Neighbourhood Small Grants, Phoenix Foundation, RDKB Sharon Gibbs, Glen and Sharon, and Jay for your generous financial contributions ❤️
With the help of 9 amazing volunteers, we created a spooktacular maze featuring 7 chilling rooms in Beaverdell’s Skating Rink, and we were ready to go for Halloween night!
The Haunted House opened at 5pm with Small Scares, a kid-friendly hour without actors, allowing young children or anyone who might be a bit nervous to explore and enjoy the spooky decorations. From 6pm to 8pm, the Big Scares began as 9 talented volunteer actors, from Kelowna to Rock Creek, brought the Haunted House to life. Two additional volunteers managed the entrance, allowing groups of 4–6 through the maze nonstop for two full hours!
This year, we introduced a door prize giveaway for everyone who went through the Haunted House as a way to estimate attendance. Based on this, my best estimate is that around 80 people experienced the Haunted House.
For those who preferred to stay outside, there was a cozy bonfire, free hot dogs, hot chocolate, and goodie bags for the kids. These goodie bags were lovingly put together with donations from community residents who live too far out of town for trick-or-treaters. Huge thanks to my 6 outdoor volunteers, who kept everything running smoothly—they served 7 dozen hot dogs and handed out all 70 goodie bags (we will definitely prepare more next year!).
To wrap up the evening, the Beaverdell Volunteer Fire Department amazed us all with a spectacular fireworks’ show at 8:15 PM.
Thank you, everyone, for making this community event so special. Your support, effort, and enthusiasm made it a night to remember, and I can’t wait to do it all again next year!
