The idea of a block party came as we thought of building a stronger community in the neighbourhood, especially between the existing neighbours who have been living here for years/ decades and newer families who moved in during recent years. It was a smooth journey planning the event. We were not sure how many neighbours would be available to join, but the turnout was great. Both older and newer neighbours had a great time connecting, exchanging contacts, learning from Blockwatch volunteers and enjoying a light lunch on a beautiful day. What a blessing! We have got positive feedback from the attendees. Some mentioned that there hasn’t been such an event in the past 20 years. We are truly glad that the event created a platform for neighbours to bond and learn how to build a safer community together.
