I planned a community Halloween party the weekend before Halloween. We used a school gym and made 6 different game stations for the children. These stations ranged from ‘Freeky Feelers’ (put your hand inside vampire guts -aka pumpkin, or rat poop -aka raisons) to ‘The Ghostly Gobble’ (large marshmallows with eyes hanging from a pole where kids need to eat them with no hands). Each child got a ‘Halloween Passport’ on arrival and had to go around to the different stations to participate for a stamp. Collect 5 stamps and you get a treat bag 🙂 There was hot chocolate and donated pizza. Parents, Children and Neighbors of all ages came dressed up (or not) and enjoyed each others company. We advertised on a neighborhood Facebook page and in a flyer that was delivered to doors in the neighborhood. We needed a lot of volunteers to make this night a success and that was a bit of a struggle, but in the end we had so many turn up ready to help. Borrowing decorations from neighbors, playing Halloween music, and only turning on some of the lights made for a fun atmosphere.
