We have had a very successful “Butterfly Way” project in our neighbourhood. Twenty-seven neighbours in the Astra Road area of Comox took part in the event. With the grant money, I purchased pollinator plants that were given away to participants. In addition, the David Suzuki Foundation supplied us with “Butterfly Way” signs. We used the remaining grant funds to buy posts to attach to the signs so people could display them in their gardens. Astra Road was lined with Butterfly Way signs, prompting passersby to ask about the project. Everyone was very enthusiastic about growing pollinator friendly plants and becoming more knowledgeable about the importance of native plants to promote a healthy pollinator population.
