I am thrilled to share this wonderful project focused on promoting sustainability through upcycling floral arrangements and nurturing community connections. This journey has been truly inspiring, filled with meaningful interactions and heartfelt moments.
The project began with repurposing some event floral arrangements to create something new and beautiful. We brought these after-event blooms to a senior residence, where we hosted a hands-on floral workshop. The seniors eagerly participated, learning new skills and embracing the joy of creation. Their excitement and sense of accomplishment were contagious, and the experience beautifully fostered community spirit.
But we didn’t stop there! To further amplify our impact, we invited neighbours from the community to harvest blooms and greenery from their own gardens. With their contributions, we created over 30 Thanksgiving flower bouquets, each crafted with love and care. These bouquets were delivered to two senior residences, spreading joy and gratitude.
Adding a personal touch, we also collected handwritten cards from community members with heartwarming messages for the seniors. These messages acknowledged the seniors’ willingness to try something new and celebrated their achievements – a true reminder that creativity and connection can bloom when we work together.
This project was so inspiring not just for sustainability, but also for community bonding. Instead of letting nature fade away, we gave these flowers a second life. A small but meaningful reminder that life, like nature, offers cycles of renewal and growth.
Thank you, NSG, for making this initiative possible. Let’s continue to think creatively, foster connections, and let our community bloom like the vibrant, ever-giving beauty of nature!🌸
